CLEVELAND, OH – At the ripe age of 19, Connor Blakley has built influence, accolades and industry contacts that many marketers dream of. In addition to previous features in Forbes, Entrepreneur, and Mashable, Blakley was recently named to AdWeek’s prestigious 2018 Young Influentials List. In addition to Blakley, the AdWeek list names some of the most prominent young names in media, tech, business, and entertainment – including movie star Constance Wu of Crazy Rich Asians.
Coined by AdWeek as the “Gen-Z Whisperer,” Blakley has worked with mega brands such as Electronic Arts, Johnson & Johnson and Sprint – all clients of Blakley’s consultancy, YouthLogic.
Like any successful entrepreneur, Blakley’s first venture began in middle school. But as a member of GenZ, a generation known for their innovative problem solving, Blakley skipped the lemonade stand. Instead he founded a social media management company and worked with Vineyard Vines and Mark Cuban Companies. Several years later he founded YouthLogic, which has since been acquired by The Campus Agency.
“I’m not looking at data,” Blakely says in his interview with AdWeek. “I can feel the pulse. I’m leveraging my intuition when it comes to strategic decisions.”
While it may not be difficult for brands to realize value in capitalizing on the $700 billion per year GenZ spends, very few brands have the intuition to do so effectively. Instead, these large brands seek to regain (or establish) their cool factor by hiring Blakley for his perspective.
