The American Lifeguard Association is a national association that has offered lifeguard training for over 30 years. ALA has been offering its training programs internationally and has trained more than 250,000 individuals worldwide. The American Lifeguard and Safety Training™ is a trademark of the American Lifeguard Association health and safety courses since 1990.
American Lifeguard Association has a respectable reputation all over the country and has featured in national news to offer their opinions and suggestions on water safety. The American Lifeguard Association is one of a few national certifying agencies for lifeguards. The US Labor Department has determined that ALA offers lifeguard training programs similar to and equivalent to the American Red Cross.

American Lifeguards Association training programs do not make the candidate wait for a group to gather to start their training. ALA lifeguard training programs are independent of place and number of trainees. Their lifeguard training programs can be taken anywhere in the world and are utilized by individuals, schools, universities, and community pools in the United States and abroad.
